Patient safety charter
- Our practice upholds a culture of safety, in which the paramount consideration is the welfare of our patients. This ethos is not confined to the provision of healthcare; it permeates the establishment of objectives, the formulation of protocols, and the procurement of new products and equipment. Moreover, our culture is characterized by openness and equity, affording team members the opportunity to openly deliberate the professional hurdles they encounter, all in the best interest of our patients. With regard to patient safety, we:
- Follow the latest infection prevention and control guidelines including those from NHS England
- Use dental instruments that are single use or are sterilised after use.
- Decontaminate work areas including the dental chair, hand held equipment and cupboard handles, in between patients.
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene including clinical clothing.
- Monitor and provide safe water for healthcare use. Dental unit waterlines are disinfected and kept clear
- Handle dental waste according to current regulations and dispose of it with appropriate accredited waste management companies.
- Take specialist advice if a team member may have a blood borne infection. The team member will have an occupational health examination and follow the advice on their role in treating patients
- All our team members undergo regular training in safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and follow the practice safeguarding procedures, which are regularly monitored and reviewed.
We have an integrated risk management system in place to identify, assess, analyse, manage and mitigate all risks and incidents. The goal is continuous improvement in our care and service to you.
At our practice, the Practice Manager oversees all aspects of practice to ensure the team is well-supported through regular meetings, staff training, personal development, and regular appraisals. We always appreciate and encourage questions, comments, and suggestions from our patients.
Please contact the Practice manager if you have any questions or concerns.
