Whether you’re dealing with impacted teeth, complex extractions, or preparing for dental implants, we perform these procedures right here at our practice for your convenience. We’re committed to making the process as straightforward and comfortable as possible, so you can trust that you’re in good hands.
Impacted teeth are teeth that haven’t fully emerged through the gums, often causing discomfort, swelling, or even infection. Wisdom teeth are commonly impacted, but any tooth can face this issue. When a tooth becomes impacted, it usually requires surgical removal to prevent further complications.
At Providence Dental Practice, we perform impacted tooth extractions under local anesthesia, ensuring that you remain comfortable and pain-free during the procedure. For those who feel especially anxious, we also offer sedation options to help you relax. The surgery typically lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the case. Once the impacted tooth is removed, the area will be cleaned and packed to promote healing. Afterward, some soreness, swelling, or tenderness in the treated area is normal, but these symptoms can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen. Our team will provide you with post-operative care instructions to ensure a smooth and speedy recovery
Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last set of teeth to come in, often leading to crowding or becoming impacted. However, not all wisdom teeth need to be removed. Extraction is only necessary if they cause issues such as crowding, infection, or discomfort.
If your wisdom teeth do need to be extracted, we’ll determine whether a simple or surgical extraction is required. If the teeth are visible above the gums, a simple extraction may be all that’s needed. In cases where the teeth are impacted, a surgical procedure will be performed. Both types of extractions are carried out under local anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the process. Following the extraction, you can expect some swelling and mild discomfort, which typically subsides within a few days. Following your surgery, our team will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to promote healing and prevent complications such as infection or dry socket.
